In the Second World War, the Italian general Graziano, who had the command of the Italian divisions in Libia, didn.t want to invade Egypt and fight the British, and many Italian soldiers no-doubt disliked the idea too. The orders from Mussolini to fight Britain was not popular in Italy, and that might explain a lot why the Italians didn't put up much of a fight against British divisions, preferring to surrender.
They didn't want to go to war with Britain, and had no dislike towards the British.
On the battlefield, soldiers who are not convinced that an enemy is an enemy will not fight with determination!
