This is another request many people wish they did not have to make and if we are not successful in gaining support from our local communities, many people of all ages will be adversely affected.
Below is a plea from Sarah, a Deal Town Football Club official, Sarah is involved in youth training at the club.
Damage is immense. The whole new clubhouse has gone along with some boarding's, the stand has been damaged in a small area of the seating, the pitch has got heat damage and the floodlights may have fire damage but have yet to be tested.
We are all pulling together and are asking the whole community to come together and help in our battle to rebuild the facilities. I am going to bank today to set up a Fire Fund where the public can donate any money to. We are asking businesses, local tradesman for their help in any way. A list is being put together for those that wish to help out or give their services.

Does this mean the club was not insured?

Sad, but surely insurance is one of the most important things to have?
Been nice knowing you :)

Hopefully they will have insurance, I would imagine a bar/club that admits the public would have to have? The club has been running on a shoestring since the glory days of winning the FA Vase and are surviving on goodwill and the help of very loyal volunteers, I hope they survive this latest of many setbacks.

Jan.
I am making inquiries about insurance and will report ASAP.
The club house that has been destroyed was only partly built and funding was still being sought to try and get it finished.
Many local business and volunteers have worked hard together, over a long time and that, now, has all been for nothing.
As the building was not finished and that it had been funded by donations and the work carried out by volunteers, I doubt if insurance would make any difference.
It would be very sad and bad for everyone, if we lose our football club.
Any help would be appreciated?

Terrible news- Deal Town are a lovely, welcoming club. my best moments in nine years at the East Kent/Dover Mercury were thanks to Deal Town - their win at Wembley was beautifully surreal.
I hope they were insured after all and the phoenix rises, quite literally, from the flames.

The Press release,
7-10-11. DTFC Press Release pending Police and Fire officers reports.
The Chairman, Directors, Players and Supporters club members are devastated at the fire which raged through the new club house yesterday. The new clubhouse and community facility has been completely destroyed and some damage has been caused to the adjacent stands, pitch-side hoardings, floodlights and the pitch itself.
Additionally, the ball that was used in the Wembley 2000 FA Vase win and the trophy presented by the KCFA, have both been lost to the club and to Deal.
These cannot be replaced in the way the building and infrastructure can.
The Directors will not let this tragedy harm the Club and they are already making plans in the short term (the Match Secretary has, today Friday, asked the KCFA to rearrange the Cup Match scheduled for tomorrow 8th October) and the Directors and Supporters club are meeting tonight (Friday) to plan the next few weeks and for the longer term.
The buildings and surrounds are insured with the District Council's Insurers; however we now call on everyone in Deal to support the club and volunteers in our endeavours to complete the plan to restore the New Clubhouse at the Charles Sports ground and to join us in overcoming this adversity.
The Police and Fire Brigade were tremendous and we are all thankful that there were no injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire is unknown at present and the relevant bodies are investigating. If anyone does have any knowledge about the cause of this fire, we urge them to phone the police as soon as possible.
We are overwhelmed at the messages of support the club has already received from both local and Kent football communities and if anyone has any offers of help, please let the club know.
A "Fire" Fund bank account will be set up as early as possible and we will be starting a fund raising campaign to start the restoration process as soon as possible. We will be asking for donations and pledges towards this and the bank details will be made public as soon as it is open.
For further information please contacy either

I wish the club well with the fund raising and hope that the top footballers with their fortunes are generous.
What a shame about the ball and trophy that can never be replaced. I do hope the club were insured for all the followers sake.

Jan, that's a very good point. When the Premiership was set up there were grand claims that the money it would generate would trickle down to the smaller clubs and grassroots level. Now would seem a very good time for them to prove that this does indeed happen. I won't be holding my breath, though!

Mark, if all the premiership players were to give £1000 each think what that could do and that amount would not even be noticed with their huge wages.

Yes that's right Howard, the ground opens next Wednesday with a charity match between Derek Hares Deal Town First team V Deal Town Legends (hopefully the vase winners). Tickets are a fiver. Hope they fill the ground, I will be there, how about you?
