walk past the jobcentre on any weekday and you will see some that are unemployable just on appearance.
last week i saw two men carrying beer cans right up to the door, then put them down to go in.

Excellent riposte from Starkey
Difficult to argue with the points he makes - but am sure that the PC rent a mob will try

The main problem I have with Starkey is not what he says, it is the way he puts across his often very sensible point of view, he definitely has the ability to irritate.

Yes he has a slightly arrogant and condescending air which does tend to detract from the power of his message. A shame, he should have hired Bob Frost to put it across.

A very intelligent piece by Starkey and he is right; if we continue not to be allowed to talk about problems in society, howsoever they are caused, we will all end up losers.
His comments about the black gang culture being adopted by whites, rings so true, as was evidenced by the riots themselves.
It used to be (maybe still would be), even on here, that if immigration was mentioned, the person raising the issue, would be condemned as a racist. It's a bandwagon that is jumped on, all too quickly.
By allowing/adopting this over-PC attitude, we are allowing/adopting the culture we are so fearful about; we must not allow it to get worse.

# 27.......A different last sentence.
By allowing/adopting unacceptable racial comments to be made without challenging them we are allowing/adopting the culture we are so fearful about. It must not become the norm.

That was the whole point of Roger's post over-PC is just as unacceptable as an unacceptable remark.

I am a Prole. Not being a privileged member of the Party, I am not trained in Newspeak and am probably also guilty of Crimethink.

i am surprised that the mesaage starkey is trying to get across is being missed.
nothing to do with colour or race just about a sub strata of society forming by youngsters of all backgrounds.
i have not seen one senior political figure come out and say that a debate has been opened.

Peter - I do not do 'newspeak' myself and utterly detest it. We certainly have an appalling state of affairs in this country when someone can speak the truth and gets attacked because he does not use 'approved language' or speaks about a subject that is not approved of in some circles. It is even worse, as in Starkey's case, when those who's knee jerk response includes the Leader of the Opposition who should know better. RedEd has demonstrated that he is only too willing to jump on any pc bandwagon without actually reading and understanding what he is actually attacking.
A lovely typically restrained response from BarryW there!! Actually, I kind of agree up to about 85%, as demonstrated by the last poll taken by Mori to obtain the answers the purchasers wanted. Starkey, in usual abrasively dogmatic way, was right while losing the argument by virtue of attitude. But the words we use do matter - ask any PR or advertising guy. Not in a dogmatic way, but in an influencing way. The name of the Dover Community Gardens is a case in point - the name will matter because it will determine who supports it.

simply red ed is a political lightweight as shown by his bland response to the issue.
dave has never been backward in coming out with headline grabbing comments, a complete silence from him and all the other political elite as far as i can see.
that is even worse.

No Keith I think he has a while to go yet. And Labour is of course unelectable under Ed Miliband. Nobody wants to be governed by a union puppet who screwed his brother out of the job.
