Dangerous truck driving on the A20.

6 June 2016 21:41314521For the last week or so i,ve been using the A20 on a regular basis.I,m amazed of the poor driving by HGVs on the coast bound carrigeway on the 40mph stretch from the Roundhill tunnel to the Capel slip road.If you are aware of this road there is a 40mph limit in place with average speed cameras that will calculate your speed between each camera so its no good speeding up and then slowing when you reach the next one.Almost every day i,ve been tailgated by HGVs whose drivers have a s**t standard of driving and those that just blast past you as if the law doesnt apply to them.Maybe to the foreign HGVs it doesnt but today i had a UK reg truck that followed me as close as 6ft away at times,i,m not exagerating this.I was more than prepared to pull over and stop this truck and show this **** what i thought of his driving but my sense luckily got the better of me,i,m aware you can lose your licence for such incidents so i ignored it,but seriously if you have to use this strech of road just beware.I believe this problem has been mentioned before in the local paper.Its a dangerous situation. - 7 June 2016 09:15314530It's an incredibly dangerous road now with the crazy 40mph restriction which Kent Police have admitted they cannot safely police with the resources they have. I feel very sorry for female drivers and families with children in the car. I now use Alkham Valley rather than risk it.Jack of Hearts
- 7 June 2016 09:34314531I avoid this stretch of road now for the same reasons as Andy says. It's far too dangerous when frankly it doesn't need to be. Whoever thought it was/ is a good idea should be sacked.Jan Higgins likes this

7 June 2016 15:16314546Think not Karlos - 40mph all the way into Dover from just east of the Roundhill tunnel. Been like that for ages. They talk about changing it but so far nothing has changed. TAP only holds the port bound hgv traffic at Aycliffe lights and then releases them bit by bit when traffic allows a more free flow into the docks. - Andy B
