I,its a shame to see so many gurkas being craped on,such loyal persons to.
2.i cant see the point in recruiting either howard,un less it works out cheaper to employ cheap/er canon fodder.

I think you will find out it is all to do with pensons, the longer they stay in more the WD have to pay out at the end of their servise it is very sad to see good high trained persons going this way. And what happens if the Gurkas say"That it, we are going to join up some where where we are needed , and then they are up against us and not with us,could it happen? I think it could they can go where ever they like and fight .

The Gurkhas army personal have been the victims of there own pay demands
As basically a mercenary army attached , there affordability was why they have survived all the cuts, that have seen lots of the old British regiments disbanded

One of the reasons so many joined the army was job security. Why risk your life when you might get made redundant the next day, no wonder they are having recruitment problems.

the lady actor made herself very popular at the time, she must have known that the reason they were used was their cheapness.
her father was a major in the gurkha rifles.

The wages they got before are very good, when sent back to Nepal
The average wage is £3 a week in Nepal they all went back very rich.
I don't think all the hopefuls that queue up for selection to sigh up in Nepal ,will be impressed with what's happened at lost opportunity because of others .
Lumley just never see the big picture at the M O D

A general and an MP on a review board and you expect logic Howard ? We should pull out of all 'conflicts' and get rid of the lot of them, generals first preferably. And as for the use of that appalling expression 'homeland security', I can't imagine where that came from ! (I can really)

Reading beween the lines on this,it looks like some of you have not done any service at all.I only done 6years in the late 1950 till 1964,I even spend time with the Gurkas and they are very good infact come no better, but so are our on men and women.I feel both are being treated bad at this time and in a few years time that will show up,yes we also have the best TA army in the world ,and this is what the powers are trying to do,they what the ones that are full time to go but join the TA when they come out cuting costs. But will they I know I would not do it,if they got rid of me that would be the end never go back part-time.and many now serving will feel the same way,so we will lose most of the trained personl.I might be wrong but that is what it looks like to myself.
