But both the K.C.C. AND THE D,D,C are having their funds cut and are running very close to the bone,it would help if we got rid of the town council as they do not get the cuts like the other two get ,all they do is tell the D.D.C. what they want same as parish councils which is all the town council is at the end of the day.Yes they might get caped one day but even then it will still be a very big cost to the D,D,C, I am sorry but it would be a very big saving if they were to go well over One million pounds would be the amount we are talking about,we in the UK have far to many councils and MPS and lords we have to cut back all the time,so it is time they did.

Sorry but it is the D,D,C that run Dover and all the new builds etc is done by them. The D.T,C, do not have a say init, but the D,T,C, do some good within its make up and I did not say they do not. but very limited to what they can do, and as I said we would make a big saving if they were to go,some of the staff there are very good and been there a long time were there even when I was a town cllr but they could be put on the payroll of the district council.

That is good but the Town council can only do that if the D,D,C,said they can.

DDC aren't doing any new builds at all, they are all being built by private developers.
I have read this forum for years, the misinformation given out by past and present councillors is astonishing.

We know it is being done by developers mate, but first it has to be pass by the D,D,C, SO THERE WAS NO MISINFORMATION given out by myself +the land that is being used came out of the D,D,C, FUNDS .

Rubbish, this is exactly the sort of misinformation that D.Little was writing about.
The majority of money spent on this site/DTIZ was given by organisations, such as SEEDA, to promote regeneration. It was not DDC money and came with strings attached to ensure it was spent where it was meant to be spent.

Seems to me a clear case cross purposes here, new builds I take to be housing like the excellent block that Sue refers to and the money from the now defunct SEEDA was to buy properties in order to demolish them.

My point was specifically about land purchase in post 28. Even so the flats in the DTIZ are a very small part of the overall cost of the new build development.
But this is thread drift which, out of frustration, I am also guilty of.
Talk of getting rid of DTC, when it now seems inevitable that a Unitary Authority will replace DDC, is simply nonsense.

My biggest concern is that privately run care homes will simply put their rates up knowing that councils have more money set aside for their services.
