If only this idea and this amount of floor space were in the actual street that is Dover's town it might work. Dover needs the "stroll past and go in" shops that are so successful in nearby Deal.

Dover Big Local would like your views on the leisure oprions they should put into part of the old Co-op building
They have an on-line poll running here -
https://linkto/run/p/SWUZXN7R
Alternatively there will be "polling cards in their hub in The Charlton Centre from Monday - pkease share and have your say.

Is that poll correct Ross just 1 question of what should go in? No reasons behind choice, perceived benefit to community or demographic info?

I don't understand!
Ross perhaps you should have a look around existing successful Innovation Centres. I think rather than spending money on an ice rink or bowling alley you might want to consider remote conferencing facilities or a print room.

We have looked at other centres and we are providing printing, training facilities, private meeting rooms, broadband etc.
However in order to help our community we also want to provide much needed leisure facilities that are not available today - the poll is based on the feedback we have had to date and incorporates the things most people have asked for.

You would need to query that with Local Trust & DDC
DBL are happy to work with and help community groups across all 6 town council wards, the only caveat is that where we spend DBL money we have to show that the majority of the benefit accrues to the residents of the DBL area

The area covered by Big Local was ever thus.St Radigunds most deprived ward split in half .I argued at the time.Ross will maker it clear. If memory serves me right It starts at Buckland Bridge down to the sea front .This scheme has been going for several years.

If I remember correctly the area was where the majority of shops are, nothing to do with wards at all, it came about as a sort of compensation for not winning the High Street Mary Portas TV thing or something like that.

Correct Sue.
"The Dover Big Local area nestles in the River Dour valley and stretches from Buckland Bridge in the north to Townwall Street – the A20 feed to the ferry terminal – in the south. It is bounded by the railway line between Dover and Canterbury to the west and the bottom of the rise up towards the Castle and Connaught Park and Barton Road in the east (approximately1.3 miles x 0.3 miles)."

Courtesy of the Dover Big Local FB page.
We are now gathering interest for the Co-Innovation centre (old Coop site in Dover) This will be a temporary centre for new businesses to get started in a relatively cheap and supportive environment. We are currently at the space-planning stage so anyone interested in locating here please contact us at
outreach@doverbiglocal.org and we will send you a questionnaire.

Went past earlier and it looked like at least one business up and running already.
