23:4691102The government can set legislation. So why not make these loopholes illegal. If the government want to use the language of 'fairness' and 'we're all in this together' then show us, rather than just tell us!

07:5091108We are not talking loopholes at all but sensible tax planning that everyone can benefit from.
There are many pensioners paying an effective 30% tax rate simply because they have not taken advice on how better to invest their savings.
Retired couples, where one is a higher rate taxpayer and the other a nil rate taxpayer, becauise of a lack of planning.
There are husbands and wives paying tax on savings needlessly simply because they have not arranged their afffairs efficiently.
Those are just a few examples but all the clients I see, however much money they have or earn, benefit from some simple and straightforward planning.
Teachers, postmen, school dinner supervisors - maybe your own neighbours, can find themselves being robbed of more tax than they need to pay by law.
It is unfair and appalling that you would want people to pay more tax than they really have to.
