Following on from comments reported re the DCAL and Carnival?Im pleased to report DCAL have submitted an application form for a carnival this year.It is currently being considerd.Let us hope it will result in us all moving forward .
#2
DCAL actually submitted a 5 year application last year Sue, which is why we didn't feel we had to do another.
It was only because the said application COULD NOT be found did we have to go through the whole rigmarole of completing YET another one.
Please stop trying to make DCAL look bad

Mandie I was not trying to make DCAL look bad just giving out factual information.DDC are trying to help you and hope the carnival will be a success. We have honoured our commitment to you and next year if arrangements are made early enough we could be of more assistance.I write this as a councillor with responsibilties for Community events.
Let us now move forward.

Is that a shake hands and talk moment,or do I order the Boxing ring.

If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Every organisation has to submit an application form. If an organisation has made a business plan they can use it as a guide line for future events.new rules may come in as you know Health and safety guidance may change .Nothing to do with DDC but the police are charging for their presence at some events. We donot invent paper work. The regatta group submit on a yearly basis.
John that was supposed to be a move forward moment.

Sue you say you were trying to move forward and not trying to make DCAL look bad, but I ask you this.
"Do you publish when any other organisation put in their application for an event on an open forum such as this?"
That would be NO.
You say that the application is being considered, and therefore you should have written nothing until it had been either approved or disaproved.
A valid point me thinks

No I donot go on the forum every time an application is made but you will see in the past both Nigel,Roger Vic and myself talk about events. It was reported in the previous weeks Mercury in great detail that Cllr Smallwood had asked a question of me at Full Council. In mt response which was reported I stated quite clearly an application had not been received. When one was submitted i put the record straight.
Another reason whether it be DCAL,Deal Carnival,Sandwich Festival of Lights and the list is much longer we have to see a current insurance policy.
Come on Mandie move forward
There are many people out there who will support you.Im only doing my job.I have tried to help you so please move on .I dont get this grief from Terri or Sid.

1 My name isn't Terri or Sid. My name is Mandie I am from the midlands and call it as it is
2 I wasn't the one who started this thread.
3 Just like you I have the right to set the record straight.
4 I have moved forward. Like I said. Wasn't me that started this thread, but I do have a right to reply, just because you do not like my response. I cannot help that.
One thing we do have in common though Sue, and that is knowing someone once involved with carnival verywell.
Please continue to do your job, and I will continue to do mine.
That will be the one I don't get paid to do.
I shall no longer reply to any of your comments on this forum.

I cannot see anything on this thread to warrant much upset as yes indeed most of it was in the papers already. I think its just that peoples emotions get heightened over carnival. Might be better to move on alright and look at ways of working together. Then it could all work out best for everyone concerned. There doesnt appear to be any great differences between you..so maybe it will all come out in the wash at the end of the day.

Will there be a Dover Carnival this year starting at 5pm on a Saturday or not.
A simple YES or NO answer will suffice.
Thankyou

Quite right Paul.
mandie no need to reply My daughter works in Birmingham and her husband is from the Midlands.
Marek Im not at liberty to say Ive only given out factual information.
All this money I earn i dont even have a holiday as such.In a few years time one of you can try for my DDC when I retire.Enjoy

Marek, as far as I am aware the carnival will not be starting at 17:00 hrs. There was an agreement made with the events committee and DCAL that as DCAL couldn't get the 15:00 start they wanted then the deal was they could begin at 17:00, however following that meeting, the events committee without further consultation changed the agreed time and told DCAL that it was 18:00 start or nothing basically.
I can see that Sue's comments have caused a little bit of upset, a lot of work goes into carnival and quite rightly so the organisers were misled and now the organisers are trying to move on but it doesn't help when there are people trying to antagonise the situation.
However I am sure that if there any updates then Mandie will be the first one here to let you all know.
On a more pleasant note Marek how old is your daughter? I am really looking forward to selection, it's sad but extremely exciting too, well worth the entry fee.

Tinkerbell
Natascha is 8 yrs. She seems rather keen so we are supporting her.My friend and I have delayed flying out to the
to the Philippines in order to attend the selection at the Town Hall. My wife and I have never been to anything like this before so it will be a new experience for us all and we are all looking forward to it.It's just a pity that it's slightly marred by the confusion surrounding Dover Carnival.

Marek, Don't be confused about the Carnival. Trust me. There are lots of people currently working to brng about a solution to the area of problem. Especially Jessica Murray who I know has been working incredibly hard with DCAL.
Please do not worry about the new experience of selection. The most important thing is for Natascha to have a fun time, and it is great fun. What is nicer for a little girl than dancing the night away with lots of Queens and princesses who will go out of their way to make all the cildren feel good.
As Tinkerbell said. It's a very emotional day, especially for me. I get to spend some fab times with these youngsters throughout their year. We share the highs, and the lows together, and you do see them as your own family, and sadly that has to come to an end. There are always lots of tears, again usually from me
You never actually ever say goodbye to them, as they never want to leave, and often come back to help out at events etc, which is so nice because it means we have done our job, and instilled in them a sense of enormous pride in Dover.
It's also a happy and exciting day as we get a new group of youngsters to get to know, and getting onto the court can often be a very emotional time, especially if they have been trying for a while.
Tell Natascha she is to just enjoy the moment. If she is lucky enough to make it onto the court, it's an added bonus, but most importantly it's about coming together, and sharing a great feeling of fun.
luv Mand x

That's dedication to your daughter Marek, delaying flights!! But it will be worth it, I can't stay away from selection night, I love it. I shall be about on selection so feel free to say hello.
Mandie is right DCAL is a ever growing family and quite frankly she can't get rid of us all. By now Mandie has something like twenty extra daughters and twelve sons, who all adore her. Even now she still has to put up with me!!

Thanks for your comments girls.I shall tell Natascha when I pick her up from school that she is going to have a super night.
Can one get a beer and sandwich or should we bring a flask of coffee and our own butties?
Cheers

OH yes Marek. bar will be open, as well as tea, and coffee on sale. Town Hall also does a variety of basket meals, or you could pop out during the breaks if you don't fancy "soup in a basket"
