There are other anomalies when it comes to carers, a woman I know in Kingsdown has 24/7 care, most of whom come from South Africa, who come over for 6 week stretches.
Also, just as a point, carers of family members get £50+ a week, not the £15.00 an hour that they get.
I know I can't make that as a comparison; circumstances are different but still unfair.

Carers allowance is a disgrace , both parties should hang thier heads in shame about that one
Gary I dont know enough about the live in carers , but its likely that they are either
a) fully funded by the person or the family either from assests or income , rarely through extremley good private health care
b) or paid for as part of a compensation package
c) or the person qualifies for NHS continuing care at home ( rare as hens teeth )

The Care Allowance is means tested, as a carer if you earn even a very small wage you are not eligible.
