The plaque will encourage more visitors to the town and castle.In particular it will after a century of negligence to the fact provide a lasting memorial to the Knocker family who as three generations of town clerks,in particular Sir Edward Wollaston Knocker who was knighted for his services,formed and created the basis of and for the creation of the foundations of the Dover that we live in today.The indebtedness which Dover owes to this family is incalculable and this expression of the fact will salute them publicly and posthumously at long last.
