    It always strikes me as odd that most of the buildings we admire, from Georgian Bath and Victorian town houses to Edwardian Neo-Baroque architecture was put up during the free for all building times before the 1947 Town and Country Planning Act.

    It seems that it's only since the local jobsworths in the local council Planning Dept have been the arbiters of design that we have been forced to build crap housing?
