My choice Brian would be the old Sainsbury shop but sadly Wilkinsons have said we have to put up with going to Folkestone or Canterbury which I think is rather silly as they would have no real competition in Dover.

When I was Business Support Manager a couple of years ago, I contacted Wilkinsons and asked if they would like to come to Dover and that I had the ideal premises (the old Sainsbury's) but they said they weren't thinking of opening a store here at that time, but if they ever wanted to, they would let me know.

i have always thought that wilkinsons would do well here, surprised when woolworth's went under that they didn't want to take over the premises.

That is interesting Roger as it was about that time I first contacted them, I did the same about a year ago and they were still not interested which surprised and disappointed me. I wonder if they realise that B&Q have moved out of town, when Charlton Centre was up for auction it was still shown on the auction details.

I did some years ago posted that they will come to Dover,it was at the same time I told you that Morrinsons were coming to Dover, the D.D.C.said they had not heard anything of the kind from Morrinsons, but "HO" it did happen,I was told on site two years or more before it happen by workers who was going to be on that site working.I am still saying that Wilkinsons will come to Dover, but they want to know what happens first down in Townwall st.So just wait and see.
