HOWARD;
In answer to your question, all the parties would like an overall majority, but if we went to the polls now, or 18 months time the results wouldn't change.
politics is struggling from all parties pint of view

Its not just the BBC though BarryW, he seems to have enjoyed quite a run of popularity. People clearly like him, perhaps he is just the user friendly face of politics, or at least he was before he joined the government and along with the rest of the Libdems did a triple back flit flip flop on their previous positioning.
Out of this Coalition its worth noting that the Conservatives appear to be getting stronger. Cameron seems to have settled into premiership very well, where the LibDEms look completely 'out to lunch'. I dont think people will forgive them for their u-turnings.
Keef mentions about a new election if it was held right now...I think we would get a very different result with the Libdem vote vapourisng, my feeling is the Conservatives would win straight if held again right now as Labour badly need to regroup. Their new wave of leaders havent slotted in just yet. The old guard of Jack Straw and Alastair Darling are looking like very old news indeed.
PaulB, agree 100% as do a growing band of pundits and polls. I'd welcome an election now as the signs are very favourable for a much larger Tory majority. Then those that enjoy knocking the coalition will be crying into their beer, for as long as it survives Labour has a chance of holding on.
In straight fight with the Tories they will slaughtered as they still don't have a leader or set of policies.

still not convinced, what with all the defcetions from yellow to red and more disenchanted blue voters going to ukip, we could still end up with a hung parliament or a small majority for the blues.
this usually ends up with the chief whips threatening any doubting members, dragging the sick ones out of their beds to vote etc.
not really democracy.
