If I have read Paul's messages correctly then nothing has been decided as yet. I hope this doesn't happen, but if it does it won't (as Phil says) be decided by the public.
Once again Keith you've posted a comment that has no realistic bearing on the subject being discussed.
Paul (Scotchie), as you say it would be heartbreaking to see our beautiful coastline ruined by pylons and all they entail. Dover is famous for her White Cliffs, to spoil them would be tantamount to sacrilidge in my view.

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

jacqui
how wrong you are, I started by saying lets get all the pro's and con's
and no decision yet made so why not.
I we that defeatest that we cannot stand up to any such facility if we don't want it?
if that is the case we would have an open prison prison here now, but we stood firm and this govt backed down
so its never a lost cause jacqui

if my memory is correct keith, you were never involved with the prison protest.
i seem to remember a cross party alliance from paul watkins and gwyn prosser standing together on this.
would be great if sometimes the good of dover took precedence over party politics.

your wrong,
nothing to do with politics,
in fact people outside of labour party such as Roger, sue, etc did a sterling job
but that doesnt mean no one else did
this was a cross party(non party)working together to stop it and it worked

I believe Paul W stated that the developers are not making a decision until the issue of the Port privatisation is resolved.

it is unlikely to go ahead because of the port impasse.

It 'lands' on DHB land at De Bradlei so until the 'sale' is decided I don't see them having much interest in it or any other developments around Wellington/Western Docks
It is apparently costed, feasibility study complete and an operator lined up....

During my short period as leader we launched DTIZ project with other initiatives being put together were an International
conference centre ...or the other option of a secondhand Cruiser parked `some where `and the Cable Car,then I lost my seat
by 19 votes to a beautiful, intelligent, blond lady with shapelier legs than mine ( she is now a friend of the family )
I am all in favour of a Cable Car,having seen many around the world, that have superb business at all terminals and when its
built we will build a Casino in our paddock...then see the big spenders come to Dover....nil desperandum....

Absolutely Reg, a cable car would bring people from all the country, casino, nice shops and restaurants etc etc.

There are fairly realistic plans for a conference centre, hotel, memorial and tourist attraction on the Heights and you get people opposing them and petitioning rather than trying to work with them.... They complain that they are 'executive' homes planned for Farthingloe (actually people that will being their money into the town)
Dover does nothing to help itself

paul and myself have explained why the cable car has not and probably will not happen.
nothing whatever to do with ddc.

Howard, the point is DDC has it on a plan in their offices as part of the regeneration of Dover, I know and you know the chances are it wont happen which makes DDC 's stance look ridiculous.

Ambition is essential Paul, but without the ability to carry things out its futile
