"successful people" Barry?
Successful as in succession? Being heir to?

inheriting money is not being successful, working for it is.

There are a good number of self-made people.
Envy get you no-where. Far better to aspire to it yourself and in so doing benefit the economy.

I dont do envy but Barry which of the cabinet is self made?
And by that I mean someone who has made money in the private sector or run a business of their own

David - look at the backgrounds of just a few. No time to go all through the list:
Ken Clarke's dad was a mining electrician and he himself went into law before becoming a full-time politician.
Philip Hammond is a son of a civil engineer and he worked for Speywood from 1977 becoming a director in 1981 and has held a number of other directorships since.
Theresa May - a daughter of a clergyman who worked for the Bank of England and then was a financial consultant.
Even William Haig, destined for politics from an early age as he clearly was, worked briefly for McKinnon but made most of his money as a successful biographical author.
To suggest they were all born with silver spoons in their mouths is absurd. As I said, successful people.

Come off it barry look at the Milibands, both very wealthy, neither has had a job outside politics.
Blair was a lawyer like Clarke, a pretty average one, its the money they've made from the taxpayer thats made them wealthy.
None of them could run a whelk stall

Come on David - look at Philip Hammond even if you do not want to acknowledge the personal successes of the others. The point is that they were not all born with silver spoons in their mouths as some people want you to think.

Speak for yourself Reg - I picked the top half dozen to look at on Wiki.

Barry, I haven't mentioned silver spoons. The fact is the very few politicians have made money prior to entering politics.
