Howard/Brian. We are getting more polls than ever before and its fast moving. Also some are not full national polls but instead are targetting a certain range of marginal seats.
Go to my blog because there is some news about the latest views of the top polling companies....who are now predicting an overall Conservative majority.

i think the one on the mariginals is the most interesting, there are stacks of safe red and blue(yellow too) seats.
it is the marginals that actually decide elections.

See Vince got stuffed by Jon Sopel at lunchtime. Had to admit that he would not rule out a VAT increase for Lib/ Dems presumably with Labour.Took a long time to get there though.

i missed that, but i notice that all blues supporters are aware of the popularity of vince cable.
any chance to bring him down is not missed.
regarding VAT, in my view it is stone bolt certainty that it will go up to 20% or more after the election, irrespective of who forms a government.
Howard, I too think it inevitable that VAT will rise after the election. Well, let's face it, the smokers, drinkers and drivers cannot afford to pay for everything, others have to contribute too.

i am guessing it will be set at 25% paul, what do you think?
also, can the claws of VAT be extended to grab something else into the net?

when a politician says "we have no plans to" etc etc it means that they are saying "of course we will, but you lot cannot prove it".
sorry mate, too long in the tooth not to know how to translate the words of our betters into plain english.

See Howard , I knew you were setting up a rapid rebuttal system. You are wasted here. Such talents.

The simple fact is that the VAT issue is one of speculation and guessing. The Conservatives have said nothing different on the matter than Labour or LibDems. The big difference is the preference of the Conservatives for cutting the excessive Government spending and reducing Government functions rather than damage recovery through higher taxes.

in which will make mass unemployment, firms going bust and the natinol debt getting bigger, further more people rioting on the street, with the nhs unable to cope because of the shortage of hospitils police and fire brigade will cease to excist etc.anachey will reign supreme.

Brian - you really must get out more. That is tosh, there is a great deal of fat, worthless schemes and excessive Government functions that can be cut without affecting the important stuff, like teachers, nurses, police and fire.
You cannot run an economy efficiently with over 50% of the economy being soaked up by Government spending, it does not work.
