Watched the traffic carefully this weekend. Huge volumes early in the mornings everyday. When you consider that all that traffic is coming to a dead stop at the Port it all seems to work relatively well...well kind of. Loading and loading is mesmerisingly fast but it is still a naturally obvious dead end with the resultant backlog. I dont think it is possible to find a total solution.
What happens is that everyone tries to get away first thing. Understandable, but the roads are much much freer in the afternoons, or so it seems from my viewpoint here. Huge volume = mornings. Less volume = afternoons.
If travellers were aware of that they could perhaps stagger it sensibly themselves.
Even the hotels here empty out in the mornings with all heading Portwards. In the afternoons dead quiet.
Yes good point Martin about bending the ear of the Police Commissioner candidates.
