SEEDA have proved to be a waste of time with the redevelopment of the paper mill....how long has it been a shell now?

Things were being knocked down on the site and there was a exhibition a while ago and I have seen the plans and have waited and waited, but it has gone quiet, perhaps the cut backs have started already.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

its a shame really, its such a nice building in its hay day but now looks rundown, badly needing a bit of tlc.
It doesn't matter about the cutbacks. Like everything else in Dover, nothing of any consequence has happened, and I think the mill has been empty for over 3 years! What is needed is a bulldozer to get rid of the eyesore.

over 7 years sid,not 3,I have lived near it for 5 years

FWIW I believe that the mill closed in 2000 so that's ten years!
The useless SEEDA have been running on over £180 million a year of our money.

Less £20+million just cut from their budgets on Monday, Bob.
The big issue is where this asset goes when they are abolished?

Surely this site, when cleared of ALL buildings, will make an attractive proposition to residential property developers? Who knows it may even relieve some of the need for 10,000 new homes at Whitfield.

good thinking sid, there is unlimited potentil on the site.
it is on top of the river dour.
Paul, I suspect that 'The Big Issue' is what many of us will be selling in the near future!
Notwithstanding here was what SEEDA were planning for anyone interested.
http://www.seeda.co.uk/what-we-do/seeda-in-action/kent-medway/kent-keyactivities/buckland-millBob, I'm not so easily tricked mate. I spotted the "what-we-do" element of the URL and realised immediately the answer was "nothing". Therefore didn't bother to follow your recommended action. Nice try, but I'm too sharp to fall for that.

As a lover of old buildings, I never thought I could ever agree with the demolition of the old paper mill but with tongue in cheek, I`m thinking differently now, maybe it would be better swept away. The guts has been ripped out of it`s inside, there`s nothing left there relating to it`s past, and a new road could sweep through, relieving Buckland Bridge of all traffic, which could be re-routed by a mini roundabout at the bottom of Crabble Hill. As Sid mentions above, houses could be built on it, but aesthetically pleasing to the eye. And don`t forget also, the church and the graveyard would come to life,(no pun intended), round the back. Shutting off the present Buckland bridge to all traffic could create a viewing place for a large pond. Additionally, it would open up the route through the tunnel under the railwayline for a short cut to Crabble and River, without the present dark alleyway behind the mill.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.
Colin, you make it sound so obvious and simple, just like pulling down Burlington House. And that is why it will never happen.
