13:5532042Thats the series Roger, the 1970's!!!! as far back as that..... times flies but thinking about it I recon you are right.
I just did an Amazon search and found a book with a publishing date of Jan 1979, no DVD or Video of the series. If the series was based on the book than it probably would have been the early 1980's. Could be the other way around I suppose...but unlikely.

14:4932046New Bridge House used to be the office of DDC's Chief Executive before he and his department moved to the Fort.

12:2432326Been off line for a few days,Telford's change was filmed in the Town and they spent a long time at Dover Priory, but there was nothing on the station that said Dover,so they paid(the tv company) to have the big Dover Priory sign on the building and they were blue then, another useless but intresting fact.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

14:4232333To clarify dating, Telford's Change was filmed in 1978 and transmitted over ten episodes from January to March 1979.
Sadly it has not yet been released on DVD, however pirated copies in unofficial 'box sets' are out there for sale. I'd be hesitant to buy these as they are probably direct off-air recordings from 1979 or repeats from obscure satellite channels which have had the channel logo pixellated out.
If one is desperate to see the series again and want to find a dealer, try searching 'Telford's Change DVD' on Google but be warned you'll probably receive four home-made DVD-Rs with a sub-standard picture.
Perhaps we should write a few e-mails to suggest the series to those chaps who run the excellent Network DVD firm as they specialise in obscure archive productions.

23:2035821Just another one as it surprised me, I didn't realise how much of the 'right wing' of Cambridge Terrace was lost, presumably from WW2 bombing. Also few people know of the synagogue that you can see just to left of centre

08:2635825Do you know the date on that first photo Paul ?
You can see the pier and there appears to be what looks like an obelisk, or was it a tall chimney ?
Almost all of the buildings on the coast side of the road (Townwall Street) have gone, apart from the Yacht Club and The Churchill Hotel, it seems.

10:5335831Roger refers to the Obelisk or tall chimney there...thats in the position where the monument is today, I think Im right there, so probably an earlier version of that rather than a chimney, but just guessing on that one.
Well done Scotchie with the pictures there, excellent stuff!

12:1935833Nah, the monument is the other side of the terrace. I think that chimney is related to a foundary for the boadyard as it is at the end of the slipway.

14:4035844Paul yes you are right on that one it was a foundary used for parts for the ships which was in for repair in the two dry docks slipways.
