Reg given "the government" is the only organisation that can fix this perceived problem then of course it is right to blame them for the lack of a solution.

The fact is there is an applicable legislative foundation for discussions between the UK and others, most notably France, yet the government for the last 20 years plus has seemed more interested in how this plays in the papers than really fixing the problem.

Let's be honest the current wave of illegal migrants (the important word here is illegal meaning they are entitled to nothing until they present to the authorities and claim asylum) is tiny in proportion to a population of approaching 68m. That they often and deliberately get conflated with legal EU migrants from South East Europe exacerbates the problem and stokes up the fires of indignation; especially when the likes of Farage use emotive terms like invasion.

The truth is that the vast majority of migrants to this country are legal, many historically invited by us or here because they are members of the EU club. Perhaps we should be more worried about the ease with which rich criminals are able to obtain golden visas allowing them to launder their criminal proceeds through our financial system or the London property market.
