Looks like the lunatics have got the go ahead to waste £16.1 MILLION from the Homes budget for the rainbow bridge to Whitfield, the realm of the gods.

How sad .I know a lot of people objected. What kind of people are councillors on KCC .No vision,no understanding of the area.More green fields lost .A white elephant in the making.

Bob I have checked back on reports etc Would I be correct in saying the grant from Homes budget does not cover all the cost .??My sons work in Dartford and they see this fast track bus system all the time .They have strong views against them .I would like to know if Cllr Collor will use the bus to report for duty at Whitfield.
I also wonder if our KCC
members use bus and train services as I did to get to Maidstone .A wonderful journey eating my packed sandwiches on route .Dashing from one platform to another.

Listened to the whole debate. Cllr Binks asked about journey times between Whitfield and Dover station as she remarked that it would be a crucial point for anyone using the “Fastrack” to the station. Reply provided was that this couldn’t presently be provided as it would be dependent on how many customers were getting on and off the bus over the route! She also pointed out that she didn’t think it provided a very good business model. Sadly she was a lone voice. Cllr Lymer gave an excellent presentation but again it wasn’t accepted. Neither were the objections raised by Halsbury Homes and Guston Parish Council. If you accept the hype Dover is going to be a mecca of regeneration. I doubt I’ll live to see it.......

There are bus services already serving Whitfield to Dover.i know Geoff Lymer was against the idea.I think some people wear rose tinted glasses.

Mrs Binks a very good Councillor .I met her many times. If the fast track bus service stops at every stop on route ,it will not be useful for those who live the far end of Whitfield .

Er... conductors, Oyster cards, dual-door buses...
BTW, 'Fast Track' or 'Fastrack'?
(Not my real name.)

It’s written in applications as Fastrack

What a ridiculous waste of money put forward by the few for the very few who it will supposedly benefit.

NOT what I put on my Census return!
Meanwhile there is only one group who will benefit from this and that is the local developers.

You said it Bob.Why Cant people see that .Meanwhile parts of Dover need looking at .Its time those on KCC lived in the real world .Whats the point of standing for the Council If you get brain washed.I recall all those plans on the wall .You ask not KCC I know for a decent toilet or suitable seats there is no money .Improved buses invest in the ones we have .Anything goes for us .

Guston PC and residents put up a robust objection but no one was really listening. Still fail to see when these houses are going to be built- they’ve been in the pipeline for years now, Phase one of 1500 has delivered approximately 100 so far.

I put in a petition for three years ago about providing extra parking spaces at Aycliffe.. It passed a DCC scrutiny meeting.
One thing they mentioned was money might be problem.. yet they seem to find the money for unless projects like the fast track bus route. and stupid seats..

Gary you have my deepest sympathy and I recognise your frustration- why oh why does no one listen to residents. Pointless exercise responding to the Draft Local Plan, once again just a box ticking exercise because no one will take any notice if objections are raised.

Lots could be done to enhance the present bus services if that's what the council is looking at.
Later night services one area that's poor .
Again local people not considered

Agree Keith. The local services improve them.If they routed the River bus service via Crabble Hill it would make it easier to get to Canterbury.Direct service from River into Dover instead of going via Hillside.

If you live in a rural area the bus stop is still likely to be a distance from your home. People will continue to use their cars to enable a door to door journey. Many I have spoken to would use a taxi for social occasions and shop online if this push to force people out of their cars continues. Many people choose to live in rural areas and don’t want to use public transport.

Our bus services are a privatised monopoly. KCC will presumably continue to contract with Regent Coaches to operate routes that hardly anyone wants to use. Beyond that, take what you're given!
