'I came on shore at Deal, walked to Dover (about one and a half hours) and the next day returned to London.'
It's a crying shame that Constable only spent half a day in Dover and then only managed a pencil sketch.

Absolutely agree.....All venues worth a visit...
Makes a refreshing change from all the politics, the moaning and groaning.
Dover and all its surrounds, as illustrated by this wonderful thread, has everything.
