Nor at the back of my place Phil, closed off at both ends but not in-between.
Over the last few years there has been a lot of serious incidents that we don't hear about.
CCTV DID cut it all out. but hey........cut the pounds, mount the crime.
When it affects me personally then watch out. I will insist on my full name on my cell door.
I can't be a nice guy all of my life. you gotta kick off before you reach 60.

So what do you want to stop out of the local authority budgets to get both the CCTV cameras back and the 3+ operatives required to monitor them 24/7?

OOOOH Mr negativity tonight eh Ross.
The last CCTV that was along Barton path was filmed and the info collected once a week or as and when required.
Does that make it easier?

Probably
Not being negative, being realistic.
Our local authorities have seen their budgets slashed for 2012 and will have them slashed again in 2013 & 14, there is a need to prioritise what they spend what little they have or find responsible community organisations to take over activities. If you were to cost this out including servicing, tape replacement, collection maintenance and replacement and put together a business case to justify these then I am sure that one or more local bodies might well be prepared to work with you to champion your cause.
Being angry and flippant is fun, but does not actually make anything better or different.

I'm sorry to say this, yes I know times are hard, yes I know crime is on the up.
I'm the same as everyone else, I shout for my corner ( where I live ).
WE DON'T SHOUT WE DON'T GET.
If you want to lay down in a corner and meow that's fine. to be realistic that's fine.
BE unusual and get what is required, That's different.
Don't run with the pack, be an individual and fight your corner.
Being angry and flippant makes me feel as though i should be a politician. Your having a giggle.

Ian as Secretary of LRCF I do an awful lot of fighting for our rather large corner of Dover and yes if you were to come to us with a viable proposal we would most certainly look at it and try to help you progress it with the relevant bodies. The reality is that networking and having quiet words actually achieves greater results in the long term.

There's a lot of good kicking left in the over 60s Ian.
If Ross knows how to go about working (with) the system, it can be very useful.

Not a safe area at the moment so stick to the main road if by chance you use the path.

hard to believe, it looks so idyllic in daytime with the river and the wildfowl floating on it.
these incidents rarely seem to be reported nowadays.

Good luck Ross, I moaned and negotiated for 25 yrs, full of promises and now I let everything go over my head.
To see the things I see from my back garden would make you think, I ignore everything now.
Not worth getting involved.

I had a very interesting conversation with the relevant bodies on Thursday and they are looking at how they can reinstate some CCTV coverage of Barton Path (they do have some available funding and share residents concerns particularly following recent incidents) - they did however ask that we all report incidents promptly either using 999 if it is an emergency or 101 if non/less urgent or if you have information about crime etc. so that the evidence is not lost.
