You are right, Keith, but that's why the Government wants to clear the mess up.
The problem in understanding Barry's stance is that he blames everything on Labour, but complains whenever the Government tries to clear away the inherited mess that is infesting the banking system.
To me it seems Barry wants everything to remain as Labour left it.

# 21........Government report on Pub Laws was written by Lobbyists.
Civil servants copied and pasted from letter sent by powerful lobbyists representing big firms.
Ed Davey Business Minister backed a tough code but then was subject to intense lobbying.

LOL - you do tell 'em Reg. Alex you change only the things that need changing. The problem is that you latch on to changing things in ways that would make the situation a lot worse. The other thing Alex - I only blame Labour for those things they did get wrong, its a long list. The things they did right is a short one, not joining the Euro and the smoking ban....

Barry, I'm following the tide, the State is getting slowly to grips with the UK banking system. The process must continue, we can't stop here. It's just about begun.
Strict laws have to be introduced to stop loan-sharking. There must be a limit on interest paid on loans, and this should not exceed the inflation rate.

Anyway, Barry, the director of Lloyds Bank has just announced he is turning down his 2011 bonus, which would have been 225% of his annual wage, therefore £2.4 million.
It seems he wants this to be an example. If the director does it, it would be unseemly for those lower down not to follow his example.
Now everyone is waiting to see if all the other bankers at Lloyds will also voluntarily refuse a bonus.
It goes to show that the massive public pressure has an effect, so hopefully, before long, these bankers' bonuses will be a thing of the past.

Government will publish long awaited reform bill for the Lobby Industry next week.
Mark Harper minister in charge has had several meetings but has declined to reveal details of the meetings.
The report should have been published in Nov 2011.
Downing street said the delays have not been due to Lobbyists pressure.
Critics fear the proposals have been watered down in the face of intense pressure from the industry.
Lobbyists say the delays have been due to the comlpications on how to define a lobbyist?

Senior Tory ministers have blocked plans for the reform of Britains discredited lobbying industry.
Once again Cameron shows he does not want to upset/take on the rich and the dodgy.
Danny Alexander Chief Secretary of Treasury objected to the block but Cameron and Tory Ministers ignored his plea.
Nick Clegg could not attend because his wife works for a lobby firm.............what a can of worms.
Senior Lib/Dems said Tory Ministers were not filled with desire to have a clean sweep.
The Lobbying Industry are said to be highly delighted.
General feeling is the Government is putting the interest of their friends before the public demand for transparency.

i doubt that, they will play it shrewd and pretend not to notice.
no benefit to them in making an issue of it.
