The Balmoral is now back in Dover and luckily my parents managed to avoid the virus. Sadly the cruise was cut short by a day as they were told they were not allowed to dock in Guernsey carrying the infection. This means that many of the passengers have had to be accommodated at The Ramada for an extra night. Most had travel arrangements to take them home set for tomorrow. A coach trip tour to a stately home in Mull, all paid for in advance, was cancelled as they were not allowed on site for fear of infection.
This one woman who refused to stay in her cabin despite doctor's orders and then threw up in the corridor has cost the company many tens of thousands and wrecked the holidays of many passengers. Refunds will now have to be issued for the missing days and cancelled trips.
My father estimated the number infected was nearer 200 than the official figure of around half that. However, he had praise for the Phillipino crew who worked tirelessly installing sanitisers and constantly cleaning.
Could legal action proceed against her do we think?
