08:3981077For the second time in 3 months I have been laid low by an ear inection, first my left ear and now (and even worse than last time) its my right ear...
Is anything so debilitating as an ear infection? It does not sound much but it is sheer agony. Can't close your mouth to eat, can't hear, can't sleep, except for no more than the two hours out of every four that the painkillers give some relief....
I have never been in so much pain than over the last weekend.
The antibiotics are now kicking in, I managed a bit more sleep last night, might be able to eat something more than baked beans and ice cream today and can think, a bit, anyway!
I have not even looked in on the forum much since Friday, except briefly in passing on the PS3. Lost track of a lot and frankly wont be up to picking up any old threads - sorry.
I will get the blog up-loaded today but after a couple of hours in the office, re-arranging some appointments, I will be catching up on sleep.
Not quite right yet but I am hopeful I will be up and around enough to make Brands Hatch tomorrow for a meeting (not racing!)....

09:3181086Yes glad to see the anti-biotics are kicking in BarryW, as it can be a nasty business. And worse still can affect your balance which results in ever more difficulties. So get back on top soon, get back fighting fit, as how would we manage without our top Tory irritating all us lefties !!lol
Not that Im a leftie of course being strictly neutral

10:0981094So that explains why the forum has been a little more placid than usual

.
I hope the ear infection clears up soon and you can eat a nice large steak in comfort.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

10:4281095I sympathise Barry W, Les periodically suffers from ear infections and I know how debilitating they can be. Fingers crossed you are on the mend now.

11:4981109Sorry to hear about your problems Barry W. Hope you are feeling better by now. Nothing worse than earache. Your post brought back childhood memories of clutching a hotwater bottle to my aching cheek. Thank goodness I have never suffered it since growing up.
When I was nursing they used to say that a pilo-nidal sinus was the worst pain in the world, closely followed by that of passing a kidney stone (for a man).

14:0181129Whenever I have medical problems I am SO happy that I was born when I was.
Antibiotics synthesised in the late 1800s, anaesthetics first used about 40 years earlier ( though according to a Doctor I know it was only this century that the medical profession started curing more than they killed and I well remember my mother describing a much loved family Doctor as 'great if you are coming into this world or going out of it, but a bit useless in the interim!)

18:2181185I haven't had serious ear pains since I was a kid, but I remember them being very, very painful.
Hope you're up to your usual fighting state soon Barry.

19:4081209Speedy Recovery BarryW. Ear infections are horrid. I remember one I had which was really disorientating, the sounds were coming from everywhere other than where they were actually coming from! Take care and enjoy your curry!

11:5881272I have suffered for years, have found that the best way to keep it at bay is to regularly put a few drops of oliveoil in my ears and occasionally swim - it all helps.
My sympathies Barry, I can still remember my screams at the Doctors as a 6yr old.....
Get well soon.
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........
