Some of you will have seen or heard the story about the cat in Ramsgate. Some youth picked up a cat by its tail outside the Camden Arms pub in Ramsgate and swung it around by its tail with great gusto, causing immense pain to the unfortunate animal. This is unbelieveable cruely, and cruelty for the sake of it. He probably did it for a laugh.
The Police are looking for the guy, its outside of our area so havent had any info through on it but its a terrible shame to see such things done for amusement. The BBC had the story. The whole episode was caught on local CCTV.
According to the RSPCA cats are in crises anyway, with many of them just being abandoned. Once the recession hits hard, animals get turfed out....with cats it seems the biggest victims.

I wonder, if someone is willing to treat an animal like that are they on a 'slippery slope'. I hope the nasty boy is caught soon, not only to save other animals from his behaviour but also to instigate the system saving him from himself....all wishful thinking I might add!

i am sure he will be caught very quickly with the cctv and the uproar locally.
i shudder to think what some people might do to him if he is tracked down before the police do.

I read this story on Kentonline, the comments that followed on the article were nearly as bad as the actual act ,treating it as a source of amusement! I despair at times!!

'Self Respect' is a funny thing.
It is not something, IMHO, we can win back because it is not something that can be taken. Although, in this world of ours, self-respect does seem to be treated as another mere commodity.
When all are told that, "You need a job/a home/to pay (tax?) your dues." in order to have self respect. It is little wonder that so many accept that it is not for them. Where such 'respect' is not for the self then how can it be for others;human or animal?
My mother was fond of saying, "Money talks...and I'm speechless." Times have moved on..."Money is ALL...and I'm nothing."

That's disgusting hurting a defenseless animal.
People working in forensics will tell you that violence and torture done to people often has its genesis in cruelty to animals. The guy who brings a bird/cat/rat etc onto the ward and strangles it for amusement will, in more cases than not, end up committing nasties on people.

i notice the article said that "animal lovers" were outraged, would have been better to have said "people".
i am sure that there are many that would not have a pet of any description but would still be shocked by such an action.

Not to mention Howard how the phrase they used could be so easily misinterpreted.
