There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

21:4364871Well I recognised it because I've got a small long-dead nest in my loft! The fine banding of paper layers is quite distinctive.
That is an amazing size though! Is that local? That must have contained a good few thousand wasps. Please don't tell me it is in your garden?

21:4764872No way pedro.
I was working in the roof space at school last week, in the dark with just a torch.
when I saw the size of this thing I got out of there VERY quickly as you can imagine, the guy that sorted it left half of it behind and this was all that was left.

21:5364878Blinking heck - I would have got out of there quick too! Amazing thing is that these nests are so light when you pick them up.
Did you see Britain's largest ever wasp nest in the news last week? It was found in a pub in Southampton, was about 6 foot across and contained half a million wasps!

I saw a hornet in New Romney last Friday.

23:1864898There was one about twice that size removed from the roof space at Westmount AEC in the late 80s after wasps startred appearing in the top floor rooms, very impressive and they had it on display in the foyer for a while.
