I know there are a few oul afficionados of Pink Floyd here on Doverforum. Yours truly is as well, a veteran of many a Pink Floyd concert in the old days. So I couldnt miss this one and with Jan T's help I took my oul weary rockin' bones to the O2 Arena (The Dome) for tuesday nights show/concert of The Wall...Jeez it is truly an assault on the senses, nobody sleeps at this show I can tell you.
Roger Waters one time rock of Pink Floyd, has regurgitated his show thirty years on and it is every bit as good as the first time around.
Rumour has it I was around for the original but I deny it vehemently....ahem cough!!
The auditorium with ten minutes to go before lift off...huge crowd and still packing them in..
Then it bursts into unholy life and all hell breaks loose
The section with the facist leader..ooh not nice, putting allsort of societies elements up against the Wall.
The wicked school teacher..putting yet more bricks in the wall

Wow !!
Those images are amazing.
I remember buying the (original) album and my younger brother said it was the most depressing album he had ever heard.
I still think it's great, though the message "We don't need no education" is so totally wrong.

Yes there are lots of wide and probably even dangerous opinions in it but it expresses the wider views of society including those of rabid fascists etc

crazy..truly gone fishing...

The Wall was first released in November 1979 - how do I know? Well I was on honeymoon at the time in Holland....
A good album but not a patch on Wish You Was Here or Dark Side of the Moon...

I actually lost interest in Pink Floyd after Dark Side of the Moon, preferring the earlier work.
The story goes that Roger Waters wrote 'The Wall' after spitting in a fans face, in an attempt to understand the influences that drove him to such an act. Strange then that it does not include a song called "I'm Sorry I spat In Your Face".
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

looked like a great show, i think that "dark side of the moon" was by far their best and could never reach the same heights after that.
I'm with Chris about earlier stuff, but that's true of lots of musicians and artists! I remember Marc Bolan as a waif-like figure strumming guitar and singing folky type songs in corners of dark rooms in London when I lived there about 125 years ago, and how lovely the songs were, and how slightly other-worldy. And then he morphed into a pop-singing monster when the telly discovered him !
Great pics, by the way!!!!

Piper at the Gates of Dawn is my favourite of their early stuff, though again not up to DSOTM or WYWH.

i remember marc bolan with tyronassauras rex(later t rex) at the "green man" leytonstone.
really heavy stuff then they decided to exploit the glam rock scene, very successfully too.

nice to bump into this morning(well you nearly ran me over lol)
the pink floyd same as others part of there glamour was to be different, and rebels
but even the fluffy bay city rollers lead singer hit someone with a microphone
so lets try to stick to the positives pink floyd gave everyone
and still do
nd welcome the 02 performance and great pics by paulb
