Really well done.
An excellent effort by all involved.
One thing (and I promise this isn't a criticism, only an observation). Is it me or does Mr Elphicke say "free parking after three o clocks"?

having watched the presitation vidio, all though i agree with it in principal,i would to go futher, the western approaches do need a bit of attention as well.coming into town on the a20 from aycliffe there are a few spots that are becoming eye sores.the stretch of road from megger to the york street roundabout needs sorting.
1,the bit between p&o offices and folkstone fixings is over grown and needs tyding up.
2,the old hovertell site all so needs sorting.
3,the debradly board is falling apart and looks negleted.
i would like to suggest that the whole streetch to be tiyded up repainted to subtle hews,as this would make dover look smarter, and may encourage more people to slow down and investigate dover more.

Hey Brian and DT1
Yes Charlie does mention free parking from 3 o'clock. Thats one of the things that the Town Team is going to pushing for. It may only be one day and one carpark but like Tesco, every little helps.
And Brian, we have to focus around the high street, the Team have identified lots of other areas, but the purpose of this bid it had to be based around the High Street. Bench street is a through fare to the High Street and something we saw as a hinderance, but the idea of a bluebird trail was from all access points, the Castle, Western Heights, Charlton Green among others to get people actively shopping.
Those areas you have identified are full valid , however, outside the areas we can focus on.

Well done Jenni.
Yes, I agree with the focus. It's no good trying to take everything on at once.

Very well done.
BUT
Insular, very, very insular. From "The Gateway to England." through mention of visitors and over-night stayers on their way to the Continent and their having to bypass the town via the motorways. There could have been much more emphasis on visitors from the continent.
It is a pity that Dover does not have the name of 'Doorstep of Britain' (or 'Atrium of Albion'?) Doormat of England, even. Has more of the 'linger and gaze in wonder' about it. True, not even I have thought about this too much until now.
The Blue Bird is a very good idea, but there is a bit more thinking to be done on the hoarding;colour and themes and free parking from 3pm needs work also.
Having 'Hells Hallway' as the access to and from the seafront is a crying shame.
The video does do justice to the own-goals and general neglect, mention of which does litter these letters pages.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Well done everyone who was involved. Brian, you are right about the approaches but the subject of this exercise was 'the High Street'.

I have it on good authority that the Deal bid and video is c**p

I didn't think Deal got one together...and comparatively why should they?
Does Mr Elphicke feature in their video and does he make any plural chronometric references?

Well done to all involved and good luck with the bid. I was surprised to see that Sevenoaks has a bid. are there different categories for the 'down at heel' and the 'oh, so genteel'?
Two clocks Elphicke?!!!
