........goes to Great Britain.
Ho hum. This is getting tedious now. From the Telegraph:
"Ministers are preparing a climbdown in the face of intense pressure over plans to cut tax relief on charitable donations, The Sunday Telegraph has learned".
I wouldn't mind if they just had the nouse to put the feelers out beforehand on this and other issues the government has U-turned on.
Still there may be a silver lining to all this. One day they may well U-turn on the small subject on climate change although I'm not holding my breath. Besides breathing out changes the weather according to Husky hugging Dave.

couldn't agree more philip this is government by opinion poll.
i suppose we should expect it with a public relations cove at number 10.
thatcher and blair just carried out their plans without recourse to what the media said, maybe that is why both lasted so long?

Oh hang on we're just getting some breaking news from trackside. Clare Balding what can you tell us?
"Well Steve it's neck and neck for this month with news of a rebellion on the proposed conservatory tax. It appears that Team GB headed by champion U-turner David Cameron is under pressure to abandon his green deal scheme completely. It seems that he is under pressure and may well find himself losing the dressing room".
Clare thanks. When we get more news on that we'll keep you up to date.
Now the weather with Kaddy Lee Preston. It's not as hot as the scientists warned us it was going to be............

Philip, what about the increasing tornadoes that hit the USA? They seem to be getting worse each year.

Sorry to disappoint Alexander but even the IPPC have admitted that there is no correlation between the incidence of tornadoes and supposed climate change.
I know it's hard to digest this having been fed the usual nonsense you get from the end is nigh merchants but really it's true.
I suggest you read more from non other than Roger Helmer who recently jumped ship from the tories to UKIP and is now a spokesman on matters relating to this issue. Like me he knows the lib/lab/conservative folly in all this which is one of the reasons he joined UKIP.
Settle your worries by reading this from someone who knows what he's talking about. Take note of the graph which should allay any fears you have over the weather:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2011/04/29/the-folly-of-linking-tornado-outbreaks-to-climate-change/
It's there in black and white and green and red.
Honestly there is nothing to worry about.

Yes it is definitely government by opinion poll. But even yesterday on Sky News, yes even still, they were talking along the lines of..."what a PR disaster the George Osborne budget was.."
Osborne has been forced into being embarassingly defensive now on several measures taken. And each week the Budget reveals another ugly measure, currently the charity shambles, so that suddenly Osborne's whole reputation for competance has taken a nosedive.
Couple that with the tanker driver/ jerrican fiasco and it really has been a bad time.
In opposition the Conservatives made much of these multi-signed letters to the Sunday papers...they even used this phenomenon as a weapon in their election campaigns, but now the boot is on the other foot, the same multi-signed letters are in the papers, but aimed at them.

daves honeymoon period has come to an end, and people are starting to question and oppose this u turn, cobbled together govt

And the timing is about right - with any new governing body/boss there is a honeymoon period followed by cynicism. And by this I am in no way condoning or otherwise any policies or inactions, simply pointing out that this is the anticipated time of unrest in any government.

Keith.
Its not the just the people but the labour Gov that should be questioning the opposition, where are they? what are they doing? nothing.
How many more oportunities are they going to miss, a stronger leader is needed before it is too late.

the reds are simply relying on slip ups from the coalition and not offering any great alternatives.
the won't get elected next time on that basis.

Great, great shame about Kaddy. She ranks high in the eye candy department along with all the other young talent, erm reporters in the South east news team. In fact over the past few years they seemed to have replaced most of their old team with younger and prettier types. As for Fish well I can't imagine why he's still in post. He always gives me the impression that he's making it up on the hoof. I've heard him on local radio now and again and his bumbling makes me think that even I have a place in the broadcasting industry.

We're just going over to Clare at trackside. Clare what can you tell us?
"Well I'm just getting news that Team GB's George Osbourne's listed building tax might well appear in this, or at least next months games. It's early days but what some have also described as the cathedral tax which might, at best, raise £450 million a paltry sum, is set to be entered as a late entrant. Of course this figure is roughly the equivalent to the subsidies given to those who can afford to rent their roof to solar panel companies and wind farm scamsters but word is that this issue might not see the light of day".
Clare thanks. Meanwhile overseas news and good news on the glacier front with an unexpected increase in the size of glaciers in the western Himalayas. Climate experts are baffled by this but made no comment. One foremost climatologist is quoted as saying:
"Erm, well I dunno but I fink it's certainly odd. I'm a climate scientist and a very important person. Where's me drink?"

Philip, UKIP's climate-change views are not based on scientific facts.
Being somewhat knowledgeable in science, I realised this on the spot.
My views are in line with those of the Scottish Parliament in this matter.

Yes, Philip.
You also point out on Barry's blog that Mr. Cameron is committed to reducing carbon emissions by 80%. In which case, I should be hearing from the Department for Transport by all rights. I am the only person campaigning for am effective reduction of carbon emissions in Dover.
Each day I check the post, and the letter never arrives.

very entertaining thread, all we need now is for dave to knock on alex's door and beg him to serve as emissions minister in his cabinet.
