Must have been an accident on the A20 as all the heavy goods trucks are coming down the Folkestone Road; quite a lot going up too.

Just got back from town, traffic along the Folkestone Road at a near standstill.
Tragic loss of life.

Wow !
I thought it must be serious with all the traffic here. The driver must have been going at some speed to have done that. Sad about the fatality, doesn't seem to have been the driver.

Thanks Brian - reading that, it was the (Lady) driver who died.

The car must have been travelling at a huge speed to have hit the roundabout, somersaulted 30 feet in the air and landed in Megger's car park. From the picture it could be a Saab 9-3 Aero 5 door hatchback. The top of the range versions can do 140 mph, more down that hill.

yes jan, aycliffe residents have been campaigning to make that road a bit safer.dispite rumble bumps for 600 meters and number of road signs on the approach drivers take no notice of them.

An awful accident - it was lucky that no-one else was hurt. For it to be travelling at that speed, I thought of brake failure.
Is it also possible that the lady was not wearing a seatbelt?
I expect that there must be many witnesses driving behind and towards her who will have more information.

I was very shocked and did not trust my eyes when reading about it. Really feeling for her family who now have to deal with it.

There is so much potential to make the road safer but it is a question of funds as always.
I could write what i think but due respect I will leave this for another thread.

It is the way the public drive, sorry but that is the facts there are signs all over the place slow down round about ahead .
I do not know what happen in this case I am just pointing out that most of the accidents are because of the way we all drive .
You see it in the towns a lot going well over 30mph there is no need for it but when I was younger or even up to the time of packing up work I was the same if the vans could go 90 then we went at 90 because we had to get to where we was working.
But even then our boss would tell us all keep to the letter of the law I am not asking any of you to risk a life by going at speed but we did and in most cases were lucky to get away with it.
But now I try to keep my speed right down and if we have to be at a place on time we give ourselves more time to get there .
