I see your problem Terry. I have just tried, and although I could get the pictures address into the window by using the 'browse' option I could see nothing else to click on to make it happen. Perhaps had I highlighted-then-copy-and-pasted it into the text box all would have been well...I will try again now.
No luck, it would not be highlighted. :(

Click the Insert Image button on the left - you will then get a folder option below
Click upload file and then browse to the file then hit upload
You will then see a thumbnail of the image
Click on the image and it will appear in the post
Been nice knowing you :)

Thanks Paul for posting the explanation, hopefully it will help some people who are having problems. You wont actually see the image until you either submit the post or preview it - up until that point, you'll only see the code (like the old forum).
Tom, it sounds like the upload button is getting lost off the end of the line, which browser are you using?

One's browser has no reason to be other than tip-top, I have been warned that installing the new UBUNTU 12.4.1 will annoy my current graphics drivers, but everything else gets updated as and when.

Easy enough on a PC, how do you do it on an iPhone using Safari?
