It's not much of a story, no depth and no background. Not that The King's Fund do much to help, as there is no sign of this report on their site.
If there is anything worse than relying on stats to see what is going on, it is pushing out poor stories in the media based on the barest aspects of the whatever research there might actually be.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

5 week ago in Margate hospital my mum come out the back of an ambulance
It was just under 4 hours before she see a doctor ,
After seeing the doctor she went strait in to I C U
A/E is overloaded with people that have no access to a GP and staff shortages
This was on a Tuesday ,the weekend must be hell
When your getting £110'000 for normal hours as a GP, your not looking to work
Over time ,evenings weekends

Absolute rubbish, firstly you mean CDU not ICU, secondly you have the audacity to criticise the medical profession for the hours you THINK they do when you in another thread were quick to tell me that as a self-employed man you worked 50 hours per week, the average Doctor works many more hours than a mere 50.

Both my wife and myself have over the last 3years or more been in and out of the 3 local Hos/ and never have we been treated other than top rate staff and Drs have always been good and understanding same for our own GPS we are very lucky in the UK to have what we have got. Yes we have to go some way to get to them and some times there is a wait but never turned away.

Thanks Vic for your comments. Petty squabbling over names is rather childish, because those that need urgent medical attention don't care what the units are called.

They are mostly grateful for the care that they receive. Before you criticise come and work a shift or two in A & E!
For those that want to be pedantic:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intensive_care_unit
An intensive care unit (ICU), also known as a critical care unit (CCU), intensive therapy unit or intensive treatment unit (ITU) is a special department of a hospital ...

CDU, on the other hand, is the Clinical Decision Unit. That's where you get shunted if you have been in A&E for 3 hours 59 minutes (in my experience).

For a start I never criticised the A/E staff at Margate the fault was not with them
They are run of there feet
I was correct with the wording I C U
Our G P s have mostly opted out of working evenings and weekends they only get £6000 more in there contract to do these duty's
It's a fact British medical staff earn more in the uk than all other Weston countries outside America.
The contracts are not doing what they should be doing, providing an adequate health service.
The pressure is being thrown on to A/E ,its well reported
Its even forcing the Tory's into coming up with more money. Go stick your head in the door see for your self
Hopefully Dave 1 and Brian, will not have a hart attack to knight, and end up in Margate A/E
if you do remember Keiths words "I Told You So.

They are very good always have been. But so are our NHS staff at our Hos/and local Drs and their staff .Please stop running them down start supporting them they need that ,it is all the cut backs and changes they keep puting on them they can not keep up with it all.

Apology excepted, thank you.
The N H S is an emotional issue for all .
I would like to give one more example of the A/E 4 years ago I went into Canterbury A/E with a stroke
Strait into the CT scanner, given clot busting drugs, 15 days in the stroke unit ,then home first class treatment ,
except the food

A&E waiting times are far to long, everyone should be assessed within 30 minutes as even a relative minor complaint can become a lot more serious if left for 4 hours.
People move round the country so much more than they ever used to, if they are away from home for a couple of months and have a medical problem they will not go a GP or even know where one is they will use A&E if they feel unwell.
Maybe we need something like an Emergency Clinic in every town that is open a lot longer than any doctor's surgery is now or even better ensure that the public know they can see a GP at almost any time between 7.00am and 10.00pm after a simple phone call or even a walk in.
I remember many years ago when my children were young one was taken ill while we were on holiday, we found a local GP and received excellent treatment after a very short wait. If the same situation arose now I would most probably go to A&E as GPs no longer seem so accessible.
The trouble is that on the few occasions when the NHS goes wrong it goes badly wrong just when we are at our lowest.
