Don't suppose whilst they were at it they gave a thought to the installation of air pollution and sound monitors along the A20 into and out of Dover.
Another missed opportunity to show some empathy for the residents of Aycliffe, Snargate Street, Townwall Street and Marine Parade that have to put up with constant 24hr noise and diesel fumed traffic on the Port's Express Highway.
Whilst we're at it - let's start a "Bring Back York Street Roundabout" campaign. It might highlight the frustrations/concerns of seafront residents & visitors who merely wish to get to the ferries (or just out of town on the A2) rather than having to go in the opposite direction to Limekiln roundabout; do a precarious 'U' turn in Woolcomber Street or use Castle Hill and the Duke of Yorks that's already seeing increased traffic flows. To say nothing of town traffic trying to get to Durhan Hill and the Heights.

I wonder if DHB will ever release the data from the "extensive traffic modelling " that they reportedly carried out?

Haven't seen it personally Patrick but I had an inkling it confirmed the original findings but updated.
Wouldn't "go to the wall" on that one.

I think you are referring to Les Richmond Brian, involved in many Castle Ward issues.

MEETING TONIGHT
If lorry noise is driving you mad
MP Charlie Elphicke wants residents who are fed up with noisy lorries to attend a public meeting and demand answers from highways chiefs.
The Dover MP has organised the talks with Highways England at 7pm on Friday, at Aycliffe Church Centre, Old Folkestone Road, Dover, CT17 9HN at 7pm.

Thank you Paul for the contact.

Good luck with the meeting tonight, hopefully Highways England will take on board the genuine suffering from residents. Knew someone who lived on a busy 24 hour main road for many years then when he moved to a quiet road he couldn't sleep because of the eerie silence!!

Sadly I left as well because I try to get my point across about TAP but felt that the meeting was being hijacked.

Charlie seems to see it as a great success but was there anything from the representatives of Highways England to suggest that residents might get a decent nights sleep in the future?

Not a lot Highways England can do without the co-operation of Kent Police, Kent Highways and D.H.B whose customers are causing the problems.

Utter, utter waste of time. This, according to a close friend who was there, was yet another PR exercise for Mr Elphicke who loves to talk the talk but never walks the walk.
