Jacksons, the civil engineers working on the A20 into and out of Dover, have published information concerning 2 night closures in Dover and restrictions at York Street junction in addition to those already in place at Union Street.

"The closure will involve sections of the A20 extending from the Court Wood Junction to just after York Street Junction. Timings for the closure will be from 2000hrs on the 10th September to 0500hrs on 11th September, and 2000hrs on the 11th September to 0500hrs on 12th September"

.".....residents that require access to Snargate Street during this time will be escorted through the works by a member of the traffic team."

Once installed lane closures will be in place between Limekiln Junction and Woolcomber Street Junction.

During these closure there will be no right turns from either York Street onto Snargate Street, or Townwall Street onto York Street.

Those wishing to exit the town centre via York Street will now have to go down to the Eastern Docks roundabout, back along Townwall Street and Snargate Street (or as someone recently observed 'Snarlgate Street'), a route already congested with traffic due to heavy port movements, exisiting works and lane closures, adding to already overburdened traffic volumes.
Alternatively, turn left into Woolcomber Street, turn round via Castle Hill, back along Woolcomber Street and right at the lights back into the A20 roadworks and single lanes.

Aycliffe and residents at the Western Heights fair just as badly as no right turn westbound into York Street means no direct route to Military Hill without going along the A20 to Limekiln roundabout and the Aycliffe roundabout. Once again increasing traffic volumes that are already stretched.

Residents south of Townwall Street, Gateway Flats, Cambridge Terrace, The Wharf, pub and resturants etc., wishing to get into town on the one way system at York Street will now have to use the eastern Marine Parade exit onto the A20, right at Woolcomber Street lights into Castle Street and Market Square to access York Street, or use Castle Hill, and Connaught Road to get to the north end of town, or alternatively go via the western end of Marine Parade and Union Street, left at Limekiln roundabout and back along the roadworks, or go over the top via Military Hill. They may also be able to sneak out via Wellesley Road if traffic on the A20 permits.

Anybody got any observations (publishable) or corrections to anything missed above or any better routes (other than staying at home)?
