Howard, dear Howard,
It is not the 'why' or the 'how' that makes this a matter of interest to the current discussion. It is that the member (RossM) began that thread, way back when, to bring up the extra-mural quaffing, and the general distaste thereof.
I was trying to bring together instances over the years to show how much the fact of public drunkenness is of general concern to residents. I do this in the light of the recent 'advances' made by authorities locally. [see this site's News page]
Clearly, a majority of locals want to see the matter realistically addressed, albeit that they plead for a particular 'symptom' to be made the priority:"Get the buggers off our streets!"
While I am aware that no cure is being sought, or called for, only faint-hearted attempts at addressing this issue do not satisfy the residents. Fool that I am, I imagine that those in authority may hear of the views expressed here.
