13:5386643Can anyone give a link between New Years Eve and 5th October?
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

14:2386646October 5th birthday. I didn't know it was the most common birthday. But that does make sense that we would have been conceived on New Year's Eve.

14:2986648Well done Alan, glad to see someone paying attention. Apparently it`s the most popular birthday in the United States, though I`m not sure how it fares over here. Anyone got any plans for New Years Eve?

14:3986651Bed at 9 cant stand new year every body wishing everyone happy new year and kissing them then next day every one making rude comments about some ones behavior our the dress they were wearing and all that drink we spend money on just to put it down the drain. No sorry don't like it and really is one year any better than the next just means we have to spend more money and easter eggs are in the shops already, To all who do like new year Have a good one.

14:4386652Alan, a man after my own heart! If there's one thing worse than Christmas it's New Year.

15:0686657We have never - never - celebrated New Year! Bed by 22.00 after a decent supper and the obligatory whiskey (the only celebratory part I will condone, and only because....!!) and the next year can start itself.

15:0686658Not just me then? I`ve hated New Years Eve for many years now, it used to be customary to be up the in-laws for a family do and that confounded tv counting down to midnight. For some years now I`ve managed to get new year`s eve off at work, which involved family members out doing their own thing and I was alone with a bottle of good wine, my headphones and my jazz cd collection. Magic! In bed by midnight, oblivious to any outside celebration`s. Not sure about this year though as I can`t drink much. Maybe an earlier night than usual?

15:2486662When we lived in Castle Street we were woken up at 11 by the frog boats sounding off and again at midnight when the English ones did the same. About time we had unified clocks, but that's another matter.

16:5986669i usually end up at a party, but have had enough when midnight arrives, usually the party goes on well into the small hours.
i leave early, i do not want to wake up at midday and miss half of the next day.

18:5386687I am also a miserable sod and have always gone to bed early on New Years Eve except when we had the pub.

09:5086743Perhaps all the Moggies on here are remembering the times before New Years Day became a bank holiday and everyone went to work with a hangover.
I don't usually party but always try to watch the New Years Day concert from Vienna on tv, with a small sherry in hand.
