- 15 October 2020 12:43365584I remember it well. I was working in the City at the time and living in Canterbury. We lost over 20 large trees from our garden that night which kept us in firewood until 2002 when we sold the house. There was probably 20 years’ supply remaining then. My boss at the time lived in Surrey but had a weekend house in Sandgate. He usually came down to Kent on a Thursday night but delayed for a day because the wind was getting up. Thank God he did because when he got there on Saturday morning the chimney stack had come down ( it was a big 4-storey Victorian house), crashed through the roof, landed on the bed in the master bedroom and taken the whole lot down to the cellar. Certain death if they had been in the house at the time.

15 October 2020 19:11365595I woke up as it was getting a bit noisy outside and when i looked out of the window i saw my neighbour with a torch chasing the bonnet from his reliant robin down the road which had torn from the car.The Gov and Pablo like this - 16 October 2020 19:59365643Slept through the storm, waking up to no electricity.
Was between school and work then, so had a driving lesson that morning. This was before the new A20 so drove up though Capel steering around debris from the caravan park, washing machines and fridges. Then we decided to go via Wear Bay Road to take a look at the Hengist.
Not your usual driving lesson.

16 October 2020 20:14365644I had a delivery to do that morning to a printing factory.It had lost part of its roof and thousands of sheets of paper that had been printed the day before were scattered throughout the building,a right mess it was,i felt sorry for the staff who had to sort it out.
