Rubbish in Gaol Lane

Bumped into a furious Roger Walkden this morning while out and about. DDC councillor Roger, a very conscientious councillor if ever there was one, was aghast at the state of Gaol Lane which is the lane where the small cinema is..for those who dont know it...it's just off Market Sq at the rear of Jacks, the new restaurant. There is a huge pile of rubbish here, the photo left just shows a section of it.

As we understand it, the rubbish is NOT from the restaurant but as a result of dumping by private tenants locally. It is in an appalling state and has all the hallmarks of an official dump site.

Roger has asked that the pictures be sent through to him and is taking on the role of finding out just exactly who is responsible. We will have a thread shortly with more pictures.. PB.

This is a stolen dog story with some good news:

Kent Police were investigating the report of a dog stolen whilst it was being walked in a field off Sutton Road, West Langdon near Dover, on Tuesday afternoon.

The five-year-old German short-haired pointer was off the lead and had run towards a hedgerow when her owner saw a small white van stop on the nearby road. The driver is reported to have got out of the vehicle, picked up the dog and put it in the van, described as having small windows in the side. The van was driven off towards Whitfield before the dog's owner could get to the road.

The brown and white pointer is called Mischka (photo attached) and was taken at about 3.45pm.

But NOW...The Good News: Dog found and re-united with it's owner. The dog was found running along a main road with a rope around its neck. Why it had a rope around its neck is not immediately clear, but the day was saved when the dog was happily spotted and returned to owner. All's well that ends well. But are there dog thieves about? Be aware.
