Crabble Corn Mill Abba Night Pictures.

27 January 2008

Two New Pix added below.
Briony Boland and Aimee Mullan enjoying the Abba Night gathering at Crabble Corn Mill on saturday night( Jan 26 ). A good turnout ensured the evening went with a real swing. It was a Quiz Evening with the added joy/burden that every team had to sing a seventies hit for their supper, with the help of a karaoke screen. Well, yours truly tried to hide in the corner, but without any success, unfortunately. I'm not sure what key the rest of 'em were in but I never found out!

" Yessir I can Boogey..but I need a certain song!!" That was our effort. Sadly we wont be making a gilt edged recording anytime soon, as no contract wielding Virgin executives were waiting in the wings. I know, the disappointment is palpable!

But the excellent news is that a good turnout at the event should ensure a considerable boost of revenue for the well deserving Mill.

TECHNICAL NOTE: We are experiencing temporary difficulties with our service facilities. There will be more pictures of this event in due course, but there may be a short term delay. Bear with us.

The picture on the left shows the lovely Jan Tranter, former Mayor, enjoying her night out at The Mill, and seen here in the company of yours truly PaulB, editor extraordinaire of Doverforum! On the right we have favourite fungirl Carole Webb, wife of the Town Clerk, in solid embrace with that legendary forumite of old, Ian 'Croc' Lillford, supersonic river warden in waiting!

"Can you hear the drums Fernandooooooo..!!" The Webb clan and associates blast out their requested musical number, that's Carole and Kirsti in the centre of things, and wow did they give it some gusto. It all added to the fun of the evening, and all this top flight entertainment sure built up an appetite. The buffet after this rendition was attacked with enthusiasm by one and all. Who ate all the quiche ? that's what I want to know!

Richard and Mary Bassett came from Hythe to support The Mill. Richard resplendant in beautifully coiffured wig and with lion taming chesthair to match. Mary looking all the part in her fabulous Abba outfit. Picture on the right shows Sue and David Mullan, who between them enthusiastically answered most of the quiz questions for our team. Well done to them! No wonder we finished near the top.

Barry Wadsworth-Smith camps it up in true sweet seventies style. We really must get the shade of that nail varnish from him later as it is quite probably this seasons simply 'must have'...ooh stop!

Will have to get the full details of all the chaps here from BarryW later, but that's the man himself Barry Willliams second from right enjoying a pint at The Mill. Next to BW, in the fetching denim, is Jim who is Alison Williams' Dad. Good to see these guys again but it was all too brief.
Barry Williams writes.....
"Nice photos.....
In the picture, on the left in a leather jacket is Maarten Lamers. He was a 1970's pop star in Spain and latterly produced and directed the stage play Oh Calcutta in Europe. He is now working on writing a new stage musical and is an entrepeneur who lives near my father in law, owning the Castle in which Richard the Lion Heart is thought to have died, near Chalus.

The other person who you dont know is another houseguest of mine, Les Graves who owns some superb fishing lakes in the Haute Vienne region of France."

And so, to wind up proceedings here with the girls again....
AimeeM and BrionyB, now joined by lovely duo Rachel and Laura Bassett.

That's all Folks!! Keep supporting The Crabble Corn Mill.
