8 April 2013...the Equalities Commission.
This useless and expensive QUANGO is now telling employers that they have to accommodate the beliefs of their employees, however bonkers. If they don't, the Equalities Commission claims, then employers could be in breach of Human Rights laws.
Well there is a common sense approach to this but the EC and Human Rights pc brigade won't like it.... If a vegan does not want to serve bacon then they should not get (or be given) a job in a greasy spoon cafe. If a pagan wants time off for the summer solstice then they should use annual leave. If a Jedi Knight wants to..... well you get the message....
The idea that all beliefs are equal and should be accommodated is as mad as the whole concept of political correctness.
It could become impossible to run a business or do anything if we take this to its logical conclusions. A better idea would be to get rid of the Human Rights Act, quit the European Commission and abolish the Equalities Commission.
