Motorcyclist seriously injured in Melbourne Avenue collision

A 47-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured when he was involved in a collision with a car in Melbourne Avenue, Dover, yesterday (Wednesday, 5 September 2012).

Police were called at 6.15pm to the collision involving the Yamaha motorcycle and Honda Civic car near the entrance to Christchurch Academy.

The motorcyclist was taken to the William Harvey Hospital before being transferred to Kings Hospital in London where he is in a serious condition. The car driver was not injured.

Melbourne Avenue was closed until 10.15pm to allow emergency services to work at the scene and for police officers to investigate the collision.
