Anti-Social Behaviour Action Day

Friday, 20 October 2006
An Action Day is being arranged by Dover District Council's Community Satefy Unit to raise awareness of social housing issues and provide specialised training for partners in the community on what powers are available to tackle anti-social behaviour.

This follows the launch of the Government's Respect Standard for Housing. Action Days are a national initiative to bring new ideas and approaches from experts across the country, so that the full range of powers can be used in tackling anti-social behaviour. Dover District is a Home Office Respect Area in recognition of its stance against anti-social behaviour and the Action Day builds upon the excellent progress already made in tackling these issues.

The training event is being held on Wednesday 1 November at the Ark in Dover and will be led by Bill Pitt, one of the country's foremost expert practitioners on the use of anti-social behaviour powers. The day will include a range of partners in the community, including Registered Social Landlords and representatives from Dover District Council and Kent Police.

Cllr Mrs Julie Rook, DDC Cabinet Member for Citizenship said: "We are very pleased to support this Action Day, which will help us provide staff with the expertise to tackle anti-social behaviour. We continue to work hard to tackle this key issue and ask the community to keep on reporting anti-social behaviour and supporting our work, to help us make a real positive impact on quality of life throughout the district."
