Interesting item tucked away on Sea News - "Dover District Council has appointed WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff to review the Transportation Strategy for Dover and identify a programme of improvements to support the district's plans for growth for the future."
Am I am being too cynical in thinking this means all those involved in Dover Joint Transport Committee, all the councillors and officers involved in transport at DDC, all the councillors and staff involved with Kent Highways, and all of the Dept. of Transport staff covering Kent - haven't got a clue what to do?

Ray and Sue I think you are both correct.
I believe there are clever sensible residents who could also come up with the correct answers with a modicum of professional help.
My starting point would be to force all lorries heading to port to use Townwall Street and Jubilee Way not Folkestone Road or Maison Dieu.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Have noticed a definite increase in the last couple of weeks of foreign lorries coming down Whitfield Hill and through the town to avoid queuing, even when there is no disruption. Presumably they don't get sent back up the A20?

Nothing to do with the time of year at all. It's due to the increase in freight traffic coupled with a lot of the (foreign) drivers finding other ways of getting to the docks than the usual A20/M20 they are supposed o use which gets clogged up at busy times when the weather is bad, French on strike, increased security as now etc etc.
What Sue, Jan and Ray have said is exactly right, they are spot on. The amount of traffic doing U turns on the A2 and Jubilee Way I've seen this week it's a wonder there hasn't been a bad accident. I feel so sorry for our local bus drivers and taxi drivers who have to cope with it all, all day and every day. What other town has the same problems as we in Dover?.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Jacqui,I think Vic is on another planet Its obvious he never uses buses and doesn't have to wait for delayed buses .Poor Drivers I feel most sorry for them .I have complained to various Councillors and Officers re the lorry traffic using the A2 and Whitfield Hill .Charlie Elphicke s response The various agencies donot talk to each other.
