Discussions at Shepway are for promoting a Parkway at Westenhanger.

...which presumably means another delay for us. By the time all the little doggies have had a bit, it will be quicker to walk.

It might help if they ran at the design speed of 140mph and not 125!

I am told that with different gearing these trains can run at up to 224 mph (360 km/h) subject of course to the design speed of the track which in the case of HS1 is 189mph.

Dover to St Pancras in 59 minutes - can and should happen.

There are strong rumours from within Network Rail that Folkestone Central is to close. A small fortune has been spent at Folkestone West on improving car parking facilities - so there is no chance of them closing that station. The massive development being planned at the Shorncliffe barracks site has consolidated the case for its retention. Dover-London 59mins -maybe.The big issue of course is the future of the route between Dover and Folkestone-a ticking time bomb of confusion, delay and clamouring to improve the Dover route to London via Canterbury. The years of controversy will roll on.

There won't be any more stops via Ashford to St Pancras.

Dover no longer a terminus. The Martin Mill stop is a bit overkill, Walmer probably sensible due to all the new houses planned. Journey times are the same tho and you now have option of going to Faversham/Medway.

Is everybody aware that from the new timetable in Jan 2015, all Dover/Folkestone peak HS services will now also be calling at Ebbsfleet? - no more direct trains from Ashford to London nor on the way home. So your service will take marginally longer - this despite the removal of the link-up at Ashford. But dont worry, its not all bad news - no peak Canterbury services will be required to call at Ebbsfleet at all, cutting their journey time to 51 minutes. (and you pay more than them, and your fare increase will be larger).
SouthEastern have a past history of slipping extra stops into Dover services, and eroding them until they become stoppers and unusable - look at the old main line services now!
They must not be allowed to slip this change through while shouting "improvement", when there is no benefit to Folkestone/Dover at all (in fact it makes it worse).
Dover Council are now aware of this change, as is Charlie Elphicke, but I would urge any commuters to press the case to them and to SouthEastern and let them know that this biased change in preference of Canterbury will not be accepted.

I've never understood the point of Ebbsfleet International. A train station designed by a committee?

All bar about 3 trains in the morning stop at Ebbsfleet anyway.
The main problem is when the all day loop trains start. See post number 10 for the downside.
Don't think our MP will be doing anything as he's been lobbying for all day St Pancras trains through Deal, even though it's at the expense of Dover.

Those fast peak services are important and we should not be giving them up when all peak canterbury are not stopping - in fact the non stopping ones should be extended to a larger window given the number of trains already providing services to Ebbsfleet.
Deal services per se are not a problem, although I agree that the loop service could cause late running and that will be an issue. I also wonder how SE can say it provides additional opportunities to Dover, Deal for London Terminii - this is just not correct - who in their right mind would catch a "High Speed" service from Dover via Ramsgate that is going to take two hours?

almost - designed/instigated by Prescott - say no more.
