I think Emmaus at Archcliffe fort will still provide a daily hot meal and maybe clothing if available for anyone that is homeless.I think they are only licenced for 20 or so residents to live there, but they will provide a room when one comes available and you can stay as long as you wish, some stay for a long time but many will move on within a few weeks. If these are genuine homeless it would be worth them going there to put their name down.

I know a couple of or thirsty friends that drink in public, neither are a nuisance I have to say. Bob with his ruddy face and woollen hat(even in summer) is a regular feature of town life. Doesn't beg and is never offensive to anyone, doesn't go about with a half starved dog but got nicked for being drunk and fined some years back whilst others are really unpleasant, foul mouthed and a blight on our town.

It is supposed to rain tomorrow around 5.00am so it should be interesting to see if that bedding is still there and as pristine as it looks in Howard's picture.

Have these rough sleepers been moved on from somewhere else? It seems odd that they have all appeared at once. I wondered whether they might have been moved by the authorities in 'up and coming' Hastings or Thanet where there are a lot of of media people following the election.
It is distressing that there doesn't seem to be hostel or other accommodation available for them.

I cannot understand people like this, speak as I find though, very polite and often offered to help me down steps with my shopping, but I am always wary, I wouldn't want to be thee partner or children in these relationships, its the children most I feel sorry for

I walked past the one next to Gala Bingo earlier this afternoon - he was polishing up a large brass chandelier.
When he gets it connected that's going to be the brightest shop doorway in the country.

A chap was moving into the doorway of the former K College hairdressers this afternoon, must have needed to do a few trips the amount of stuff that was there.

A taxi driver friend of mine believes he has seen one of them parking a car on Military hill and walking down into town.I cannot confirm this but he was pretty certain what he saw.

All those sleeping rough have been seen by Porchlight and given help, where possible. No indication that have homes elsewhere (he visits early in the morning)

I spoke with a Lady from Porchlight at the Community Hub last week about accommodating them and she said they don't have any spaces for them - sadly, she did say that they may not want to stay there (with Porchlight).

Good job too seems like the police have done their homework and contacted the absentee owners of the properties in question.

Could be Howard or maybe the police are providing a laundry service for their bedding and also ensuring it's not stolen when they are away working hard at their day job!

Do nothing and nothing happens.

I wonder where these rough sleepers were during the winter months, the better weather appeared around the same time as they did.
Why are they now called rough sleepers when until a few years ago they would have been called tramps and been told to move on.
