well Howard...I know they are some lovely People inthere and some I do know for a while too. Its to do with the business rates and St. James Development .... so I really would not be very happy. I always thought Morrisons owned the place? But they dont.
:(

Well if the Dover store make any more redundancies the staff morale will dip even further, some of the staff there are already stretched to breaking point.

Morrisons always seems to be busy, unlike nearby ASDA. And as for the Co-Op, whenever I go in there the checkouts aren't open with whatever customers there are being served at the fag counter.
Sainbury's left because they said Dover was "over shopped"!!!

Always advisable not to get carried away with rumours. I suspect this has something to do with the plans announced by the company to streamline its management and supervisory structures in its stores nationally. Of course this will be disconcerting for the staff involved, but let's wait and see before jumping to conclusions.

They are so short staffed they even phoned up when my daughter was on her summer holiday to see if she was available to do a shift, I must admit I enjoyed telling them she was away.
I doubt the Dover shop will close, I would hate to have Asda or Aldi as my only local supermarkets. I believe the problem is Head Office making poor decisions, this area has no click and collect and no home deliveries so they are way behind Tesco and Sainsbury in that respect.

If this is the case Kevin, than it is purely poor communication. Always consult Staff before anything else, especially now.
Lets hope its all hot air and be happy

I agree Kevin.
Too many people are quick to post negative stories and although we shouldn't be blind to the obvious or confirmed, we shouldn't be too ready to spread bad news, especially if it is only a rumour - they can cause damage and could result in putting people off of coming here.

As far as I can understand they will be cutting out one layer of management which might not be a bad thing, a lot of firms are top heavy where management is concerned.
I have asked on Morrisons Facebook page for an official reply about the rumour about their Dover store closing is correct. I will be very surprised if this rumour is true.

What also must be looked at is Asda own the site .
They were looking to get plans to make their own small store bigger,so it might just be that they want to take over the Morrinison site for themselves but that is just my way of thinking and nothing more,

Good news and as I expected, I have just had this reply from Morrisons.....................
Morrisons commented on your post.

Exactly Howard, not enough staff, all you hear is calls over the tannoy asking for till trained staff. This is all down to Head Office policies which means the local Manager is not allowed to employ extra staff or even give out overtime.

Good to have some good news on that front they do have good staff and is a good store but sorry to say we do not use it anymore just because of cost we still eat there at times. But for major shoping it is Aldi all the time now.
