It certainly is a mystery, my thoughts and prayers are with the relatives of the missing.

i think that the families know they will not see their loved ones again, they just want closure and to know exactly what happened.
i don't remember a situation like this before.

Been following this on the radio 2 Jeremy Vine show. They was saying today that relatives have been ringing the phones of the missing passengers and still getting a ring tone as if the phone is still active, and the chances of the plane being secrectly landed somewhere. How could this be possible? Its such a large plane that you couldnt just land it in a jungle clearing or anywere really without it being seen.Another interesting theory was the possibility of the plane even being hit by space debris re-entering the earths atmosphere.Very very unlikely but not impossible. The plane supposedly had around 7 hours of fuel to cover its 6 hour flight. Its a very sad situation but at the same time very intriguing. For me this is one of the most interesting news articles for a long time, but for the relatives i do hope it draws to a conclusion very soon.

I believe the plane has been hijacked to Iran or Afghanistan. I have not been to KL airport for more than 20 years but security there was always very lax, unlike Singapore or Bangkok.

surely some group would have claimed responsibility by now and posted a video on you tube if that was the case?

But would it have enough fuel to get to any of those places. As mentioned,it was said it carried around 7 hours of fuel for its 6 hour flight.

Throttle back a bit and climb to 49000 feet and you can increase the range considerably. 7 hours fuel at normal cruise of 580 mph can easily become 12h at say 450mph. Puts most of Asia within range.

Now theres the mystery of the objects seen in the sea by the chinese satelite. Its now being said that the images were released in error and were not thought to be parts of the missing plane, now several eyewitness accounts, etc, etc, its all very confusing.

I must say I still think they are still been hijacked but all we can do is pray for them and their familys.

Surely if hijacked they would have had to enter somebody's air space? to go with no news for a week is incredible.

Not if they flew round Sumatra, south of Sri Lanka and straight to Somalia. That would be 100% out of land based radar range. With the 777's fuel reserve they could reach the Somali coast.

Somali pirates taking to the air that is an interesting theory, with probably 250 mobiles on there it is a wonder that they have not been tracked somehow by big brother type equipment.
